Sebastian Haas was born in 1988 in Bingen on the Rhine and started learning the piano at the age of 7. He was 12 years old when he started to play the trumpet. He attended masterclasses with Prof. Malte Burba, Prof. Till Brönner, Bobby Shew, Wayne Bergeron and many more. In 2007 he began taking classical trumpet lessons in Mainz.
From 2009-2016 he studied jazz trumpet at the „Hochschule für Musik“ in Dresden. His teachers were Prof. Malte Burba and Prof. Till Brönner.
Since 2012, he is a member of the professional big band „Spielvereinigung Süd“ in Leipzig.
He is currently the musical director of several big bands, such as the „TU Bigband Dresden“, „Werkstatt Bigband Dresden“ and „Night Time Orchestra“. In 2014, he was director of the Conservatory Big Band Dresden (hfmdd jazz orchestra). He is often invited to perform with different orchestras, including the Elblandphilharmonie Sachsen, Oper Chemnitz and Theater Erfurt.
Since 2016 he teaches jazz trumpet and brass didactics at the „Hochschule für Musik Dresden“.
