Jochen Immesberger received his first trumpet lessons at the age of nine and was active in the local musical town band during his youth. The love and passion for his instrument paved the way to study at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg i. Br., at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory of the City of Mainz and at the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg.
He supplemented his studies with a degree in "music agency/concert education" at the University of Augsburg, which he completed with a Master of Arts degree. The topic of his master thesis was: "Music Agency/Concert Education in Music Schools - Fields of Work, Fields of Application and Perspectives using the Example of the Music School Filderstadt and the Future FILUM".
Engagements as a trumpeter led him to the Landespolizeiorchester Baden-Württemberg, to the Stage Apollo Theater in Stuttgart as well as to various brass ensembles. In addition, he has been working as a brass teacher for many years.
Since 2008, Jochen Immesberger is a certified Burba®Brass Teacher. He has been teaching at the Musikschule Filderstadt since 2012, where he teaches trumpet for young and adults alike. As head of the editorial team, he is also responsible for the content and design of the website of the music school Filderstadt.
When teaching, it is important for me to look at each player individually. I emphasize the fundamentals of brass playing and work on the bodily functions such as breathing, tongue and mimic muscles, and how to implement these for effective brass playing.
Over time, your sound, endurance and range will improve, which will make your playing much more reliable. Being able to use the instrument for what it is meant for – making music – becomes tangible. During the entire learning process I focus on the individual needs and goals of my students, so that I can help them reach their goals.
